We have been married since 1977. Most of that time we spent working, working, working. We met at Southwestern Bell Telephone (later SBC, now AT&T) and both worked there 30 years before retirement. While doing all that working we spent years accumulating, accumulating, accumulating. In 2006 after nearly 29 years together and in our 4th house that has several bedrooms, 2 acres of yard to care for, and certainly more "stuff" than we need, we decided to sell it all, downsize dramatically, and move into our 5th house. Our 5th house is still in the design stage, but it WILL be on wheels and will contain less than 400 square feet. A decided life style change for us.

This motor home will be a 2007 Dutch Star manufactured by Newmar Corporation out of Nappanee, IN. It will have 4 slide outs and a Cummins 400 HP diesel engine. We will initially pull our 1999 Chrysler mini-van behind it, but ultimately we hope to move to a Jeep Wrangler for our tow/fun car.

What made this change in our attitude? Well it wasn't overnight. It has been in the works for about 3 years. After Donna retired, we bought a motor home to make traveling to see our grandchildren in Utah more comfortable and convenient, and discovered we love traveling and we love doing it in the motor home. How long will we do this? We aren't sure. We are saying to people who ask from 2 to 10 years. It is possible we may grow tired of the travel part and if so, we will find another place to settle down and another "stick" (without wheels) house to live in . But right now we "think" we will do this until they make us leave the road. Until then we hope to go from sea to shining sea, to the mountains, then the prairies, every national park & forest....and that's just for starters.?
